BLOG 5: Changes To My Study Programme
Today I want to talk about changes to my study program. I'm in my second year of dentistry. Therefore, I will discuss what I have experienced. In these 2 years, I have had to take many different subjects, such as anatomy, histology, physiology, simulation (practical and dental courses), pathology, etc. Most of those subjects are theoretical, but the way they manage the course, the class modalities, and the professors are different. I think that classes are often tedious and hard to understand because they either don't relate to each other or are too complex. It is supposed that in advanced years, the subjects are more practical.
In dentistry, the academic workload is heavy because in the early years, there are many theoretical assessments, and in the clinical aspect, it's because passing the course doesn't only depend on you, it also depends on whether the patient attends or complies with what you ask of them. I believe that there should be more regulation or a bit more flexibility regarding the patients. Ideally, the duration of the program is 6 years, but students often take longer due to failing subjects.
I think the faculty lacks recreational areas for students and places to rest, because not all is study. Also, need more tables for lunch. I believe the faculty concerning the use of technology, I think the internet quality needs to be better because it's often unstable and makes studying difficult. Technological improvements are necessary because the equipment is quite old in general.
Hello Lorena, I also believe that the resting spaces are quite limited at the dentistry faculty. I hope they increase them in the future for the sake of my back, as I don't want to hunch over even more while studying at the university.
ResponderEliminarHi Lorena! I'am agree with you, the workload is really heavy, we have a lot of difficult subjects in every years, especially in the final years.
ResponderEliminarHi Lore!, depending on patients in the clinic is something that really scares me. The administration should be responsible for maintaining a good schedule to ensure that all students have patients
ResponderEliminarHi Lorena, I really like your blog, it is very interesting. I also think that the faculty lacks places to rest and tables for lunch.
