BLOG 5: Changes To My Study Programme

Imagen
Today I want to talk about changes to my study program. I'm in my second year of dentistry. Therefore, I will discuss what I have experienced. In these 2 years, I have had to take many different subjects, such as anatomy, histology, physiology, simulation (practical and dental courses), pathology, etc. Most of those subjects are theoretical, but the way they manage the course, the class modalities, and the professors are different. I think that classes are often tedious and hard to understand because they either don't relate to each other or are too complex. It is supposed that in advanced years, the subjects are more practical. In dentistry, the academic workload is heavy because in the early years, there are many theoretical assessments, and in the clinical aspect, it's because passing the course doesn't only depend on you, it also depends on whether the patient attends or complies with what you ask of them. I believe that there should be more regulation or a bit more...

Blog 4: Time Travel to the Past or Future

Imagen
If I could to travel through time, my destination of choice would undoubtedly be the past, and more specifically, the vibrant and eventful 1980s in the United States. This decade was a treasure trove of significant historical events, ranging from the royal wedding of Princess Diana to the tragic assassination of John Lennon. It was also marked by groundbreaking moments in space exploration, such as the first woman venturing into space, and the devastating Chernobyl disaster that had far-reaching consequences. However, the fact that truly adds a personal touch to this era for me is the music scene.  The iconic video for Michael Jackson's "Thriller" was premiered. The 1980s saw some of the greatest rock bands of all time reach their beginning. Icons like Queen, Def Leppard, Poison, Guns N' Roses, The Cure, Van Halen, and Bon Jovi started captivating audiences worldwide with their timeless music. If I could stay in the 1980s, I would relish the opportunity to witness...

Blog 3: My dream job

Imagen
When I was a child, my mom had a friend of the family, whose daughter studied dentistry and I was very close with her, also I was her patient while she studied. That was the main reason I was interested to be a dentist. When I was 10 years old, I started thinking about studying medicine, because I have always liked sciences (and I had the best grades at school) and I thought that was a big challenge. But then when I have 16 years It crossed my mind again to study dentistry and finally that was my dream job.   I was interested in the health area because I like helping people and it is a kind job qualified (The type of job that requires preparation and a series of skills to be able to fill a position). So, that is the reason that I am studying dentistry. I would like to travel a lot, but above of all, I would like to be able to live in another countries (my dream would be to live in Sweden or Australia) The salary as a dentist is good, but if you study and specialization, it's eve...

Blog 2: The Best Holiday Ever: Panama

Imagen
Holiday in Panama: Last year, my siblings and I went on vacation to Panama, specifically to Panama City and Playa Bonita. We went to visit my family, which includes my grandfather, my aunt, and my cousin. We hadn´t visited Panamá for 12 years. We stayed for 1 month at my grandfather's house. He lives in the Canal Zone of Panama City, in Diablo, where the Panama Canal is only 10 minutes away. In that month we toured the city, my grandfather drove us to Panama Canal, the Chinese neighborhood, museums, Casco Antiguo (the historic district is known for its charming architecture, vibrant nightlife, and cultural attractions.). We also visited the Causeway (A waterfront promenade where you can walk, jog, or bike along the coast), Ancon Hill and a lot of beautiful places. We also went to Playa Bonita, which is located 2 hours from Panama City, where we stayed for a week. We went to the beach every day (by the way, the water is warm) and to the pool at the resort.  Besid...

BLOG 1: Guangzhou

Guangzhou: Half of me. I learned about Guangzhou since i was a young girl, because my grandfather is half Chinese and half Panamanian. His father was borned in that city. Guangzhou  is the capital city of Guangdong Province in southeast China. It is a major port of the South of China, and it is China's southern gateway to the world .  Besides being a key city for world trade, more and more tourists are going to Guangzhou to enjoy new attractions, old temples, and its mild climate. I think Guangzhou combines the best of two worlds, the new and the old.  In China people speak two languages:  mandarin chinese and  cantonese  chinese, but in Guangzhou the main language is cantonese chinese, because this language was borned in that city.  An attraction I want to see in Guangzhou is Guang Xiao Temple, it is a  one of  the  first temples of the world and  it is still one of the most important Buddhist temples of China . Other place I ...
